Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil has revealed during an interview with Radio One’s Zane Lowe that the follow-up to Only Revolutions will be entitled Opposites.

The first single from the double album, Stinging Belle, was then played exclusively on the show as “The Hottest Record In The World Today.” Team Biffy members will able to listen to the single streamed in the members area on their website from 9pm tonight.

When asked about premiering their latest track Stinging Belle, Simon said: “It’s a strange situation when you reveal what you’ve been working on. It doesn’t get any easier.

“I think it was one of the first songs that clicked. We’ve been playing it in the practice room for a year. It shows how over the top the album is with the bagpipes and things,” he added.

Simon went on to say the band were hoping the fans love the new album before joking they were aiming to create “the first double album that you can actually enjoy listening to.”

It was revealed that Biffy had wanted to create an even larger spectacle though: “Garth our producer was working on other records when we contacted him so we carried on writing. When we started recording we had 45 songs and when we listened back to them we felt that we had more than a double album. We asked the record label about a triple album but they wouldn’t go for it.”

A release date has not been confirmed but it is fair to expect that Opposites will be available later this year.
