Upcoming Rock Album Release Dates

A lot has changed since we published our guide to 2012’s most anticipated rock albums  – some albums have been delayed, some may not even happen – but right now there are plenty of newly announced releases to whet the appetite of any rock fan.

Mark TremontiAll I Was

Say what you want about Mark Tremonti, lead guitarist of both Creed and Alter Bridge, you aren’t named “Guitarist of the Year” by Guitar World for three consecutive years without talent. This month marks a move away from such accolades however, as Mark goes solo for the first time. All I Was is scheduled for a July 17 realease date and early signs are promising for what is a first chance to see him as a lead-vocalist.

Gaslight AnthemHandwritten

The Gaslight Anthem have slowly but surely worked their way into the hearts of fans worldwide and their fourth album Handwritten marks their first on new label Mercury Records. Lead-singer Brian Fallon has stated the album will be more akin to breakthrough effort The 59 Sound, rather than the last record American Slang. Lead single 45 has been circulating for about a month now and if it is anything to go by the New Jersey four-piece’s latest album promises to be some of their best work to date. Handwritten is released on July 23rd in the UK and the following day in the States.

Serj TankianHarakiri

July 10th marks the day Tankian’s third studio album will be released, and it has been described as up-tempo punk rock, which is a move back towards his System of a Down heyday, rather than the orchestral sound found on his last solo release Imperfect Harmonies. Three other solo projects are to be released in the near future, namely Orca, Jazz-Iz-Christ and Fuktronic, with two expected to be released in 2013. So if you are a Tankian fan then there is plenty to get excited about, starting with his latest album, out tomorrow.

YellowcardSouthern Air

The innovators of violin-infused pop/punk have been back in the studio recording their eighth studio album, Southern Air. The ten track album promises to pick up where When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes left off and if the list of guest-vocalists is a sign of the quality of the tracks then fans will not be disappointed, as Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low), Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy), Cassadee Pope (Hey Monday) and Tay Jardine (We Are The In Crowd) will all be making an appearance. The album is set for release on August 14 in the States, but a UK release date has not been announced yet.

Bloc PartyFour

Bloc Party’s aptly named fourth studio album has been talked about and teased by the band for months now, but the release date (August 20) is drawing near and lead-single Octopus has been debuted at recent live shows. Most fans will have heard snippets of tracks on the band’s Youtube page after they released an album trailer earlier this year, which can be seen below.

Owl City The Midsummer Section

Adam Young’s solo project Owl City is not to everyone’s taste, but we here at Loud and Live Rock are not afraid to admit that since the collaboration with Mark Hoppus hit the internet a few months back it has cemented itself as one of those tracks which just won’t leave your head. The song was leaked online and may not be included on the album as a result, although with the backing of the Blink-182 frontman it seems certain the track will be included. A collaboration with Carly Rae Jepsen, of Call Me Maybe fame, may not carry the same rock-stylings of the aforementioned track, but if this sounds like your kind of music then the album is expected to hit the shelves on August 14 in the UK.

MuseThe 2nd Law

Muse, who are continuously seen as Britain’s best live outfit, are preparing to release their sixth studio album on September 17 worldwide. As if their name couldn’t grow in stature any further, lead single Survival has been chosen as the official song of the London 2012 Olympics. As always fans have been left guessing in what direction the new album will swerve, although dub-step elements were present in a trailer the band released earlier this year. In case you have somehow avoided  Survival, the Olympics theme can be heard below.

More Upcoming albums:

Green Day – Uno! Dos! Tres! trilogy to be released over the next 6 months.

All Time Low – Album title to be announced. Expected release date: Autumn 2012.

Paramore – Album title to be announced. Expected release: Late 2012.

The Darkness – Hot Cakes. Expected release date: August 20 (UK)

Bob Mould – Silver Age. Expected release date: September 4th.

    • Well that’s good to know. I can’t say I’ve gotten around to listening to it yet and if I’m honest I wasn’t blown away by the lead-single, but I will give it a chance, as I do all music I can get my hands on!

  6. I’m not sure exactly why but this website is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later
and see if the problem still exists.

  7. Thanks Bruce, all feedback is welcome but it’s great to know you’re a fan of the site. As for slow loading times Denise, I think that is just this page (and other similar ones) on which there are multiple video links as each link causes the page to load that little bit longer, but hopefully the content is worth the wait when it does load.

  8. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I think I would never
understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me.
I am looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!
